Review : Solid pads with a MINOR quirk
If you are like me, you are shopping for pads because you are afraid that eventually you won't be able to buy them anymore. I have ALWAYS wanted metal pads, and it took me 8 years to solidly convince myself to take the plunge, and months of shopping around to find the ones right for me. These pads are as close to perfect as you are going to get in this price range.
They feel solid. They are well built, and feel like they will last a good while. The USB units are plug and play (Windows 7 64 bit here), and they are read in as 2 axis 16 button (?!) controllers. There are only 6 buttons on it total, counting the "axis' but at least windows names them. Once windows knew what they were, stepmania was able to incorperate them right away in the config keys screen.
There is only one con to these, and really I don't feel so bad about it. The arrows. You can't just tap them like you would regular DDR (ITG/Pump/Whatever) arrows. They sit recessed in the pad, but they are...
